Year 3 is an exciting first year of Juniors for the children. We aim to build on the key skills children developed in the Infants and help them become more independent in their learning, in preparation for the rest of Key Stage 2. We try to make the transition to Key Stage 2 as smooth and enjoyable as possible and have many memorable activities and events planned!
Autumn Term: 'Ancient Greece'
Spring Term: 'Life in the Freezer'
Summer Term: 'Locally Grown'
Please find below both current and archived curriculum letters and a class timetable (please note this is a guide only and is subject to change). We have also included a recommended reading list from Spring 2014 which parents of confident readers might find useful when helping children select appropriate books. Also included are last year's Spring and Summer curriculum letters for information.
As part of our topic 'Life in the Freezer', Year 3 visited The Wilson Museum to learn about the Cheltenham explorer and artist Edward Wilson. We interacted with artifacts from the time of Wilson's life, found out about his expeditions to Antarctica, explored the museum and did some watercolour paintings in the style of Wilson.
The potter fired our clay pots and tiles in his kiln. Then, we painted them.
As part of our topic 'Into the Labyrinth', we had a Greek day. We dressed up in Ancient Greek clothes and made clay pots, tiles and Greek theatre masks. We also tasted Greek food.
